"Hello to all,

we have to announce short notice a change of rules in 1.1. Bike helmets and 1.2. Breaks.

While it previously in 1.1. was:
"Bike helmets are obligate for every race and for every class. The helmet has to have a protective function and it must conform to a valid, as possible international standard. A crash cap is not allowed in a fullfaired vehicle as well."

... we now refer to the rules of the WHPVA, which is crucial for world
championships:
"Rules apply of WHPVA "3.2.7.1 Helmets"." It's also common
interpretation that helmets are obligate for every race and every class and the requirement, that these helmets have to be able to give a protective function. However, this protection shall be possible also by so-called "soft shells".

Also 1.2. will align to the WHPVA-rules - so far has been written:
"The vehicle must be equipped with two in-dependent breaks. The brakes must be able to slow down a vehicle in an expected way."

We refer now also to the rules of the WHPVA:
"Rules apply to the WHPVA-rules 3.1.3 Brakes ...:"
"All vehicles must have a safe means of stopping."

... in combination with 3.2.7.2 Vehicle Safety“:
"Vehicles may be disqualified from competition due to inadequate braking capability, lack of stability, poor visibility, presence of dangerous protrusions, or other unsafe design features."
Here it doesn't matter whether the deceleration of a vehicle is done with one or two brakes. But the brake/s must also slow down in any case in the usual form.

You find the WHPVA-rules at WHPVA.org.
You find the changes as quick as possible at hpv.org. You find the rules attached.

The changes will not result in a tightening of the rules themselves. We assume that the rules now comply in all aspects with the standards of rules for World Championships.

With kind regards,

Christoph Hipp"
